A new Politics/Elections poll has been created.

Fiji’s leader has restored his military chief, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, to the post of interim prime minister a day after suspending the constitution.
President Ratu Josefa Iloilo acted after a senior court ruled that Commodore Bainimarama had come to power illegally through a coup in 2006.
The president’s actions have been condemned by the US and Australia.
The army uprising in December 2006 was the country’s fourth coup in 20 years.
The military said it had been forced to remove a corrupt and racist administration led by Mr Qarase.
But critics of Commodore Bainimarama have accused him of being a “power-hungry dictator”. Is the current government legitimate or illegal?

JAPAN DECIDES – ELECTION OVERVIEW

apan is set to go to the polls in what could be an historic election.

The ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is expected to lose.

Opinion polls have indicated that the opposition Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) is well placed to make major gains, possibly ending more than five decades of almost uninterrupted LDP rule.

With four prime ministers in the last four years, critics say the LDP is in disarray and many voters want a major change in government.

Whoever wins the general election will face the challenge of turning Japan’s economic recovery into sustainable growth.
